Cognate with Hokkaido, Kansai, Hiroshima, Yamaguchi, Ehime and Kochi ひやい hiyai; Saga, Kumamoto and Kagoshima ひやか hiyaka; Yoron ぴーさい piisai; Okinawan ふぃーさん fiisan and ひーさん hiisan "cold". Related to Osaka ひやっこい hiyakkoi "cold".
