Derived from [root], the genitive particle の no or ん n, and the diminutive suffix 【子】 ko. Related to Tohoku べご bego; Tohoku, Tochigi, Niigata, Yamanashi, Hyogo and Kyoto べこ beko "cow"; Fukushima べーこ beeko; Iwate べーご beego; Gunma べご bego; Aomori べごっこ begokko; Yamanashi べごこ begoko; and Ainu ペコ peko "cow".
