Cognate to Kagoshima きぬ kinu; Amami きぬ kinu; Yonaguni んぬ nnu; and standard Japanese きのう【昨日】 kinou "yesterday", historically きのふ kinofu. Attested in the Okinawan language dictionary (沖縄語典, 1896), by Masayo Nakamoto, under the spelling ちぬふ chinufu.
