Etymology

Derived from the polite, presumptive-volitional form of the humble Okinawan verb をぅがむん【拝むん】 wugamun or をぅがぬん【拝ぬん】 wuganun, meaning "to worship" or "to see" (cf. standard Japanese おがむ【拝む】 ogamu).
