Attested under the spelling shoo (shu) "father" in the 1818 Vocabulary of the language spoken at the Great Loo-Choo island in the Japan Sea, by Herbert John Clifford.
Notes
In Nakijin, this term is only used by the upper class, whereas in Naha, it is used by everyone regardless of class.
