Etymology

Cognate to Nagasaki and Kumamoto だりやみ dariyami; Kagawa and Miyazaki だれやみ dareyami; Miyazaki だりやめ dariyame; and Kagoshima だいやめ daiyame "evening drink (esp. on the first day of the month)". Ultimately derived from だれ【疲れ】 dare "fatigue", the nominal form of だれる【疲れる】 dareru "to be tired"; and  やめ【止め】 yame "stop", the nominal form of やめる【止める】 yameru "to stop; to cease". Literally meaning "something to stop fatigue".
