んまか・うんまか【旨か・美味か・甘か・巧か】

nmaka · unmaka

Pronunciation: /Nmaka/, /uNmaka/

Definition

Ka-Adjective

  1. Delicious, tasty, good, delectable

Etymology

Derives from the root form uma うま followed by the Kyushu adjectival ending -ka か. The initial vowel /u/ was nasalized to /N/, creating the form nmaka んまか. The forms un うん and n ん are interchangeable in most dialects, and seeing how the syllable n ん is not permissible at the beginning of a word in standard Japanese, the spelling unmaka うんまか also exists.

意味:うまい【旨い・美味い・甘い・巧い】、おいしい【美味しい】
