Cognate with standard Japanese はくろ【白露】 hakuro "Báilù". Ultimately from Chinese 【白露】 "Báilù" (cf. Mandarin báilù; Cantonese baak6 lou6; Eastern Min băh-ló; Hokkien pe̍h-lō͘ and pe̍k-lō͘; Sino-Korean 백로 baengno; Sino-Vietnamese bạch lộ), reconstructed for Middle Chinese as *baek luH.
