Cognate with Okinawan あんだちゅー andachuu and あんだちゃー andachaa "lizard". Possibly also related to Okinawan あたくー atakuu and あたかー atakaa "Okinawa tree lizard".

  • Vocabulary of the language spoken at the Great Loo-Choo Island, in the Japan Sea (1811), by Herbert John Clifford, records "Lizard, U'ndlecha".
