Cognate with Aomori (Tsugaru) しつがけ shitsugake and しずかけ shizukake; Niigata (Sado) すずかけ suzukake; Kagoshima すすかけ susukake "Reeve's spiraea". Also cognate with standard Japanese すずかけ【鈴懸・鈴懸け】 suzukake "plane tree; sycamore tree". Ultimately a compound of すず【鈴】 suzu "bell" and かけ【懸・懸け】 kake "hanging".
