Etymology

Derived from nominalization of the verb ながす【流す】 nagasu, meaning "pour", "shed (a tear)", "distribute (information)" and "diffuse (news)" in standard Japanese. The noun ながし【流し】 nagashi means "sink" in standard Japanese.

Notes

Variant: ながした nagashita, used in Bōnotsu, Kagoshima.
