Kansai (Osaka), Chugoku (Tottori), Kyushu (Kagoshima)

akai

Definition

I-Adjective

  1. Bright, clear, vivid
  2. Easy to understand or interpret: clear, transparent.

Etymology

From the Heian form あかし【明し】 akashi, itself declined from the verb あかる【明る】 akaru "to become bright". Cognate to the Shikoku term あかい【明い】 akai "warm colour"; and standard Japanese あかるい【明るい】 akarui "bright; vivid".

Notes

In Tottori, the term あかい【明い】 akai is not used to mean "colourful" or "vivid". Instead, the na-adjective まっか【真っ赤・真赤】 makka is used.

意味:あかるい【明るい】
