Cognate with Okinawan じーまーみ jiimaami and じーまみー jimamii; and Japanese いじんまめ【異人豆】 ijinmame "peanut, groundnut" (literally "foreigner bean"), used during the Edo period and still used today in Amakusa (Kumamoto). Compare Japanese とうじんまめ【唐人豆】 toujinmame "peanut, groundnut" (literally "Chinese bean").
