Etymology
Attested in the Okinawan language dictionary (沖縄語典, 1896, p. 30), by Masayo Nakamoto, under the spelling ちつィに chitsïni and the definition 「キツネ・ケツネ 狐、犬ニ似タリ」 "fox; that which ressembles a dog". Borrowed from standard Japanese きつね【狐】 kitsune "fox".
