Historical Ryukyuan attestations
- Narrative of a voyage to the Pacific and Beering's Strait, to co-operate with the Polar Expeditions (1831), by Frederick William Beechey, records "[...] a dish of hard boiled eggs without the shells, painted red, and a pickle which was used instead of salt, called dzeeseekedakoonee" [= possibly 味付け大根].
