Some aquatic snakes unique to the Ryukyu Islands include the Black-banded sea krait (Laticauda semifasciata sp.), Kikuzato's brook-snake (Opisthotropis kikuzatoi sp.), and the Slender-necked seasnake (Hydrophis melanocephalus sp.).
