ホーキーポーキー : hookii pookii | define meaning
hookii pookii
Pronunciation: [hoːkiːpoːkiː]
Definition
Name
- Hokey Pokey ice cream, a vanilla-based ice cream with bits of honeycomb toffee that originates from New Zealand and is sold in Japan.
Etymology
Borrowed from the now dated English slang term "hokey pokey", which was used to represent mixed ice cream sold by vendors on the street. The term may ultimately stem from a deformation of "hocus pocus" or several Italian phrases such as "oh che poco" (oh how little) or "ecco un poco" (here is a little bit).
