にーせーたー【青年達】

niiseetaa

Pronunciation: [niːseːtaː~niːɕeːtaː]

Definition

Noun

  1. Young people; young men; youth

Etymology

Derived from にーせー niisee "young person" (cognate to Kagoshima にせ nise "young man" and possibly standard Japanese にせい【二世】 nisei "second generation; junior") and the pluralizing person suffix たー【達】 taa. The Okinawan form suggests it may have been historically derived from the form にさい【二才・二歳】 nisai "two years".
