  1. Giant beaked whale (of the genus Berardius), which comprises Baird's beaked whale and Arnoux's beaked whale.

Etymology

Derived from つち【槌】 tsuchi "mallot", くじら【鯨】 kujira "whale" and ぞく【属】 zoku "genus". Note that つちくじら【槌鯨】 tsuchi kujira (tsuchikujira) on its own refers specifically to Baird's beaked whale, sometimes called the North Pacific bottlenose whale.
