Definition

Interjection

  1. Used to indicate laughter, often lengthened for emphasis. English equivalents include "lol", "loool", "lololol", "lmao", "lmfao", "rofl", "haha", etc.

      "Loooooooooooooooool!"

Etymology

Originally derived from the term わら・わらい【笑】 wara(i), but due to the lack of Japanese encoding support in many early online games and chatboards, the abreviation "w" became a common alternative and was lengthened for emphatic purposes.

Notes

The similar abreviation "kkk" derives from ククク kukuku and is used to mark evil laughter.

意味:わら・わらい【笑・笑い】
