- おもろさうし Omoro Saushi (1531-1623) records "みきやう", "みかなし", "みこし", "みちよろ", "みしま", "みしゆ", "みこい", "みつき", and "みあおり", among other examples.
- 混効験集 Konkoukenshuu (1711), "Words of the Royal Palace", records "みおうね", "「みきやう」御顔之事 神哥に見えたり", "「みしよ」味噌之事", "「みおもかげたちへ」御面影たつと云事也", "「みものくすく」御物城", "「みおむき」御顔の事", "「みくし」御櫛", "「みごしやん」御杖", and "「みすゞひ」御硯", among other examples.
- Essay in Aid of a Grammar and Dictionary of the Luchuan Language (1895), by Basil Hall Chamberlain, records "The prefuxes u, gu and mi, which signify literally 'honourable' or 'august,' are almost always preferred to the personal pronouns in addressing a superior or even an equal.
