  • Essay in Aid of a Grammar and Dictionary of the Luchuan Language (1895), by Basil Hall Chamberlain, records "Munu, also abbreviated to mung, a thing, less often a person, sometimes food. Also used in many compounds, as chī-mung, lit. wearing thing, i.e. a garment".
