Verb

  1. Appended to regular verbs in their volitional-presumptive -o form, and to shimo nidan (lower bigrade) verbs in their -u (-ū) form. Used to indicate the notion of wanting or wishing to do something.

Etymology

Reduced form of the Kyushu verb ごたる gotaru "to want (to do something)".

Notes
