From Miyako とぅィ【鳥】 tuɿ "bird; chicken", the genitive particle ぬ nu, and the diminutive suffix か【子】 ka. Cognate to Hirara とぅなか tunaka "(bird) eggs"; Ishigaki とぅなが tunaga "(bird) eggs"; and standard Japanese とりのこ【鳥の子】 tori no ko (torinoko), meaning "(bird) eggs" or "baby bird; chick".
