わっこーねーん【悪こーねーん・悪っこーねーん】

wakkoo neen

Pronunciation: [wakkoːneːŋ̍]

Definition

Negative sa-adjective

  1. It's not bad; not wrong.
  2. To not be out of line; not uncalled for; not improper; not inappropriate.

Etymology

Present negative form of the Okinawan adjective わっさん wassan, roughly meaning "bad, wrong, disagreeable, unsavoury". The form わっこーねーん wakkoo neen (wakkooneen), derives from the adverbial -く -ku form of the Old Japanese adjective わるい【悪い】 warui which, followed by the topic particle や ya, becomes わっこー wakkoo in Okinawan. The adjective is then conjoined to the negative auxiliary ねーん neen "not; is not".

Notes

The form わっこーねーらん wakkoo neeran also occurs.

意味:わるくない【悪くない】
